Antônio Tibiriçá

Antônio Queiroz Tibiriçá, better known as Antônio Tibiriçá (São Paulo, 1898 – São Paulo, 1968), was a Brazilian filmmaker, screenwriter, producer and actor. He was an important figure in Brazilian silent cinema, for being the first to treat cinema as a commercial product, exploring themes such as ***uality and crime to attract audiences, and was also one of the most successful filmmakers of that time. These elements can be seen in films such as O Crime da Mala and Vício e Beleza, both written and directed by Tibiriçá. He was the father of singer Cida Tibiriçá.
